Hey Friends and Supporters,
Today, Friday, May 8, 2009, Food Not Bombs Albuquerque was notified that we are facing an injunction in court to stop sharing food anywhere that the state of New Mexico requires a permit. The motion filed by the New Mexico Environment Department cites Mike Butler, Patrick Jaite, and Several Unidentified Members of FNB as "John Does", as defendents.
We are currently going to be talking with lawyers and figuring out what our next step is. We are still looking for any lawyer that will do pro-bono work to defend us. (our contact info will be below). Please spread the word about the repression that is happening and know that we will continue to share food to all that are hungry.
Sincerely,
Food Not Bombs Albuquerque

Cannot say I am surprised. Hang in there!
My name is not John Doe - my name is John Hubertz from Indiana and this civil disobedience places you in my opinion with the likes of some pretty good folks.
Like Gandhi, Martin Luther King and the guy they claim to believe in named Jesus H. Christ.
H must stand for "hard to believe these asshats go to a church and pretend to be anything but the opposite of what I said.
They are wrong.
You are simply following the spirit.
This goes beyond Karma - I'm enough Native American to feel the land move as I speak these words in languages older then the soil itself.
These permits are in place to protect the health and safety of the people receiving the food. Why don't they just...you know get the fucking permits they were supposed to in the first place. No, you'd rather cause a scene and act like 'the man' is coming down on you.
are you guys dumpster diving the food that you are sharing? are you disclosing to the people that you are sharing the food to that the food is from a dumpster?
I suspect one of the reasons the authorities are so ticked is because Food Not Bombs often distributes their free food at protests. They know that change does not happen when people are too hungry to march. I personally think Food Not Bombs is a brilliant concept.

LongChamp your a fucking idiot, never in the history of mankind has there been a requirement to obtain a permit to eat a meal, these people are not charged for their food and do not fall under any taxable requirement to do so, the "members" of food not bombs are not paid "employees" so again they do not fall under taxable requirements, the issue is someone is doing good and bureaucrats want to stop it or at least tax it. Look beyond the bullshit man for once in your life try to remember what it is like to be human and do for someone else.
As for the anonymous post after, to even suggest that they get their food from dumpsters is legal liability and if they wanted to they can request that your IP be obtained and suite filled against you for slander and liable.
I was for a 9 month stretch in my life homeless in Austin Texas, I lived as a dragworm (popular term)on Guadalupe st. and I was fed by Food Not Bombs on many occasions, I applaud you forever on what you do, and hope that you will continue regardless whatever these ASSHATS say in difference.
Screw the government. These regs are not about health & safety, they are about control. RESIST! DO what you DO, do it proudly, and do it without regard to the law: "But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual." - Thomas Jefferson, 1819
thedude, you are an idiot,
to suggest that someone could be held liable for posing a question about the origin of the food served is ridiculous.
it is obvious that:
1) you don't know what the definition of slander or liable is.
and 2) you threw some pathetic attempt at a scare tactic out there to make a "point".
i don't care if people want to eat that food or if people want to serve that food, but don't speak on what you don't know.
i asked one of the people working at the food stand if the food came from supermarket dumpsters, and he flatout said yes.
